About Me
Hello! My name is Sam Schwartz and welcome to my website! I am currently eighteen years old and am about to finish my senior year at Newton North High School. I have been developing my love and passion for the hospitality industry since I came to this school as a freshman. I have been a four year participant in Newton North’s culinary vocational program, and already have two years of experience in the high volume restaurant business. For the previous four months, I have been working at a fine-dining italian restaurant. I am a food runner, busser, and have entry level knowledge of expediting. At my restaurant, I work 18-25 hours a week while still attending school. In addition to this, I also partake in a work study for the culinary program, for which I arrive at 6:30AM every weekday to set up the school’s student run restaurant for the day. My plan for the future is to relocate to Las Vegas. I hope to move out there after graduation, where I will be working for the summer in order to qualify for in-state tuition for the University of Nevada Las Vegas. I will be spending four years there, studying in the William F. Harrah college of hospitality.
For my Capstone project, I will be conducting an internship at the Marriott in Auburndale, MA. Here I will be placed on their morning culinary prep team, and will essentially be working from 6am-11am before returning to school for my remaining classes and lacrosse practice. What I am hoping to get out of this experience is a real in depth analysis of the mentality behind what it takes to produce excellent hospitality, and the euphoria a customer is given when exposed to excellent hospitality.
